MXR Analog Delay MX-118 Modifications
The MXR Analog Delay is a vintage analog delay pedal released by MXR in 1976. Only three controls are exposed for the user: Delay Time, Mix, and Regen.
There are three versions of the MX-118. The first version had a single output jack and utilized the Reticon SAD1024 bucket-brigade device (BBD). The second version saw an upgrade to the Reticon R5101 BBD chip and added a second output jack for a separate wet-only option. The third version simply added an LED A 120VAC power cord powers the MX-118. When powered, a red indicator LED lights up – regardless of whether the pedal is in bypass or engaged.
There are two modifications I currently offer for the MXR Analog Delay:
- True Bypass + LED Mod
- Synergy Mod
Mods for the MXR Analog Delay
True Bypass + LED Mod
The True Bypass + LED Mod adds an indicator light and a sturdy true bypass switch to your vintage MXR Analog Delay. This modification is only for the MX-118 versions that do not have the built-in indicator LED.
Synergy Mod
The Synergy Mod replaces the AC Power cord with a negative-tip 18VDC barrel jack found commonly in pedals today. After this modification you will be able to energize your vintage MXR Analog Delay with an 18VDC power source, effectively synergizing your pedalboard. This modification is available for all three versions of the MXR Analog Delay.
