Pre/Post Op Amp Boost Board
Build a single op amp boost circuit using the Stompbox Electronics Pre/Post Op Amp Boost board! Only the circuit board is included in this purchase. All components must be surface-mount except for the potentiomter. See below for suggested component parts and where to source them. Whether you’re building a boost pedal or modifying an existing circuit to fix a volume drop, the Op Amp Boost Board is a natural solution.
What is an Op Amp Boost?
An Op Amp Boost is a circuit that increases the amplitude of an audio signal. Using a single op amp and a handful of components, you can create your own op amp boost circuit.
What parts will I need and where do I get them?
Resistors are all standard values and are 0805 (0.080″ x 0.050″) SMD packages. You can find them in most 0805 SMD resistor kits (Amazon). The recommended values for R1 – R6 are:
- R1Â 47k
- R2Â 47k
- R3Â 470k
- R4Â 47k
- R5Â 1M
- R6Â 10k
The capacitors are both recommended to be 104 (100nF). They should also be 0805 packages and can be found in most 0805 SMD capacitor kits (Amazon).
As for the potentiometer for gain control, you can use a standard 100k ohm linear pot. LoveMySwitches usually stocks them.
The op amp is a single SOIC-8 package. The recommended op amp is the TL071CDR from Mouser.

Which tools will I need to build the mod board?
You will need solder, a soldering iron, and a handy pair of precision tweezers are enough to build the Op Amp Boost.
