Line 6 DL4 Mkii Modifications
The Line 6 DL4 is a classic digital guitar effects pedal – one of the first – released at the turn of the century. It holds 15 separate delay settings, five controls for each delay, and a 14-second looper setting.
In 2022, Line 6 came out with the much anticipated DL4 Mkii – a successor to the original DL4. The Mkii has tons of extra built-in features – all of which are well described in a review article by Premier Guitar.
Many of the modifications for the original DL4 are obsolete for the Mkii, including the soft-touch switch and LED replacement mods and the volume drop fix.
That said, the Looper Mod is still able to be added to the Mkii. Read more about it below.
Additionally, there are a plethora of functions that are only accessible from a MIDI connection. With the MIDI Modifications below you can choose to have one of these functions available to you at the press of a button! See the description below for a rundown of available functions.
If the above mods aren’t what you’re looking for, you can always request a custom modification through the Custom Guitar Pedal Modification Request form.
Looper Modification
The Looper Mod allows you to directly access the Looper functionality without having to turn the selector switch. Instead, a footswitch is added along the top side of the pedal to access Looper mode. An LED indicates whether Looper mode is activated.
MIDI Modification
There are a plethora of functions that are only available using MIDI. The MIDI Modifications allow you to access any one of these functions. It involves installing a footswitch to trigger the command and an LED indicator. A toggle switch allows you to enable or disable the MIDI Mod.
Due to space requirements only one (1) MIDI modification is available per pedal. See below for a list of available commands to choose from for the MIDI Mod.
- UNDO Modification – In Looper Mode, undos the most recent overdub recording.
- Forward/Reverse Modification – In Looper Mode, allows you to toggle between Forward and Reverse (usually you need to double-tap the TAP footswitch). This modification adds two footswitches – one for Forward and the other for Reverse. No indicator LED is needed for this modification, so it is not included.
- Delay Select Modification – Allows you to switch to your choice of a specific Delay Model selection (Vintage Digital, Crisscross, etc.)
- There is a comments section during order checkout. Please write which Delay Model you wish to have associated with your modification.
- Reverb Select Modification – Allows you to switch to your choice of a specific Reverb Model selection (Room, Cave, Plate, Hall, etc.)
- There is a comments section during order checkout. Please write which Reverb Model you wish to have associated with your modification.
- Delay-Reverb Routing Modification – Installs 2 switches for toggling between Delay -> Reverb routing order, or Reverb -> Delay routing order. By special request I can make one these switches route the Delay and Reverb in parallel.
Check out the Line 6 DL4 MkII manual for other MIDI-based commands. If the above list doesn’t contain the command (or set of commands!) you want there’s still a chance we can take care of you through by going through the custom modification process.
